Ford Unveils All-Electric Mustang SUV (Everything we Know)

It’s official, Ford is coming out with a Mustang that’s, well, not exactly really even a Mustang. It has been set in stone for a while now that the company has been looking to move into the segment. Speculation has been growing for months about what their electric SUV would look like. It almost seems like people are perhaps even more concerned with what it would be called.

Looking to capitalize off of the cornerstone of the automotive world that is the Mustang, the automaker decided to roll their electric SUV right into the platform. As such, the Ford Mustang Mach-E has been born. It will mark the first time that the Mustang name is used on anything but the sports coupe that we know and love.

What can we expect from the Platform?

The Mach E, slated to see the streets in late 2020 will be similar in size to the Ford Escape. Obviously, it will borrow some styling cues from the Mustang, as the name implies. The vehicle will come in both RWD and AWD configurations. From what we’ve been told, there will be five different options to choose from as different range and performance packages will be mixed in. Range will vary from 210 to 300 miles in between charge. The most powerful model will be accompanied by 429 hp and 612 lb-ft of torque. The interior is set to be dominated by a 15.5-inch display.

Pricing is said to start at $44,995 for the most basic Mach-E. From there, options can add another $16,605 as the top of the line Mach-E will ask $61,600. Depending on where the vehicle is purchased, it might qualify for electric vehicle incentives and tax credits.

We’re not sure if buying electric is worth it for everyone just yet. However, we do have to say that it looked like the avenue is being well defined by a variety of manufacturers. As we see the years move forward, it’s only going to get more efficient. What does this say about the future of combustion? Only time will tell.
