Ford’s “Tremor” Package Brings Off-Road Performance to Super Duty Line
If there’s one area that seems to be overlooked in a world of trucks, it’s that of the performance application. In today’s market, high-performance trucks are incredibly niche operation. This seems to be the main motivating factor behind the lack of participation in the market segment. However, a couple of brands have figured out a way to execute on a high-level in this segment. This is where vehicles like the SVT Raptor or SRT Jeep Grand Cherokee come into play.
In a more recent rendition of the performance truck, Ford has come out with the “Tremor” line. Up until now, this nameplate has been attached to the Ford F-150. Essentially, the truck was focused on on-road performance. However, this time, we find that the Tremor nameplate is making its way to some other trucks in the Ford lineup.
From what we understand, upcoming Ford F-250 and F-350 models will include the nameplate. However, instead of what we’re used to in the F-150, the trucks will focus more on an off-road variant like the Raptor.
Capability in aspects of payload and towing will be about the same. The truck available in both 7.3L gas V8 or 6.7L Powerstroke diesel configurations and will add an aggressive edge when it comes to off-road driving. This aggressive edge will come thanks to the help of 35-inch Goodyear tires with a 2-inch lift. All in all, the truck will have 11 inches of ground clearance. Some other suspension goodies will make the vehicle a little bit more enjoyable to drive off of the beaten path.
One of the notable features that the Tremor’s HD variant will carry is the Raptor’s Trail Control. Essentially, this is a sort of adaptive off-road cruise control that will allow the driver to have a more relaxing drive in adverse terrain. We can’t help but get excited about “rock crawl” mode, either!
