Freshly Built Twin Turbo RX7 – The Maiden Voyage

If you really want to make power with a formula that has been proven over and over again, using the LSx series of engines might be your best bet. Not only is there aftermarket support further than the eye can see, but there are have also been plenty of people going before you that have really done all of the testing and working out of the kinks to make combinations like this work more smoothly.

This time, thanks to Urban Hillbilly Action Videos, we follow along with Shane Smith and his 417 Motorsports Mazda RX-7 powered by none other than an LS engine and a pair of turbos! On this maiden voyage, we watch as the car makes its way down the track on a soft tune to make sure all the components are going to work well together before putting real power through the car.

Even though they aren’t throwing any major boost at the setup yet, it does look like the car is able to make its way to some pretty impressive passes, initially clocking in with a pass in the five second range in the eighth mile. That’s not bad for a little shakedown!

Check out the video down below that showcases the super clean build as it makes its first couple of passes and shows us what we can expect to see you when this thing is all dialed in. I get the feeling that the car is going to be a real treat to see once these guys get the chance to sort a few things out and really turn it up!
