Most of us know by now that there are cameras literally EVERYWHERE. Between private security recording, local and state cameras that monitor traffic, and businesses recording their premises, there’s a very good chance if you’re in public, you’re on camera much of the time. YouTube user ronfin1971 just happens to have a pretty wicked security setup including multiple cameras that alert him to activity on his phone while recording the footage being captured by the cameras.

ronfin was in his basement when he receives one such alert on his phone. He admits that he typically disregards these alerts, but just happened to check this one, only to find there was in fact a man in his Jeep rifling through his belongings. Being a former Military Police officer, ronfin grabs his gun and instructed his fiancé to call 911, and headed out to confront the intruder.

As he exits his house, the would-be thief flees and ronfin is unable to pursue since he ran outside barefoot, so while he wasn’t able to retain the thief for police, he did prevent him from stealing his belongings. Maybe it’s time to look more into these camera systems, since they do seem to work very well!
