HELLCAT Powered Toyota Prius At SEMA!
If you take a ride into the world of performance, two polar opposites are the Toyota Prius and, well, to be frank, just about anything that performs well or is anywhere near being even remotely cool. We get it. The Prius isn’t designed to be cool or fast but instead is designed to do nothing other than getting good fuel economy and maybe adding a little bit of comfort for the driver at hand. However, that wouldn’t stop the guys over at American Racing Headers from taking this car that many would associate with the green movement and making it, well, not green… at least when it comes to emissions.
This time, we see exactly how they took the car that is the most hated by the performance community and made it one of us. For starters, you can see that the entire car is completely overhauled from wheels and tires to suspension and, most importantly, what is hanging out under the hood. Residing as the power plant, we get to see exactly what it’s like to have the Prius make way with one of the most powerful production performance engines to have ever existed under the hood. If you want to talk about a plot twist when you approach a car like this, a Hellcat engine is definitely how you put one in place.
Check out the video down below that shows off this performance application that really flipped the script on exactly what you can expect with a car like this. If you’re interested in seeing this stick shift car run down the dragstrip, they say that they will be attempting to drag race it sooner than later, aiming for the eight second range in the Prius. If all this seems too foreign to believe, just wait until you see this thing rolling down the strip. We’re betting that it will be quite the show stopper!
