Hennessey is officially building a 600hp monster 6×6 Ford Raptor for $295,000
Who doesn’t love machines designed to conquer the world of off-road? When it comes to the 6×6, we can’t help but be amused by all of the features that these things have to offer up and thus, Hennessey grabbed our complete attention when they promised to bring the new Ford Raptor to the world of 6×6 machines.
For the low, low price of just $295,000 you can get your hands on what Hennessy is calling the VelociRaptor 6×6 “concept.” While it is technically still called a “concept,” we’ve pretty much been assured that this thing is happening and if you’re in the market for Ford that cost more than most houses, well, you better get your engine started and break out that checkbook.
For an additional $22,500, you can bump the power up to it over 600hp with the help of a couple of bigger turbos. That’s quite a jump from the original 450hp that the original EcoBoost offers but still leaves you to scratch your head wondering where the value is. This thing seems more and more like the “Apple” of the car world with every turn. I guess if you’re spending over a quarter million dollars on a pickup, you don’t really care at this point anyway.
Top Gear tells us that “Hennessey’s kit includes locking rear axles, upgraded Baja-spec Fox suspension, new 20-inch wheels, chunky off-road rubber, beefy get-the-hell-out-of-my-way front and rear bumpers, a new rollbar and blinding LED lights.”
There is no denying that all of these upgrades, when combined together, make for quite the aggressive step up over the original Raptor and at their $295k starting price the ride is a heck of a lot cheaper than the Mercedes G63 6×6, which is quickly approaching half of a million dollars, if you absolutely need to have six-wheel-drive.
All in all, there is no denying that the cool factor is definitely there, though. What self-respecting American wouldn’t love to be blasting their way down the highway in a Ford Raptor sporting 6 wheels? The only thing that remains to be seen is how many people are willing to shovel over that many quatloos for such a machine.
You can brush up on more of what you can expect to see out of this machine in the video below and afterwards be sure to stop by and tell us what you think of this creation.
