Here’s Why There Aren’t That Many Pickup Trucks in Europe but America LOVES Them
If there are two things that go together about as well as peanut butter and jelly, it’s America and our love affair with the pickup truck.
There is a reason why, every single year for over four decades, the Ford F-150 has been America’s best-selling vehicle. With that, it really doesn’t look like the old USA is going to fall out of love with the platform anytime soon, either. In fact, the pickup truck is really the hottest selling platform no matter what the brand. The current used vehicle climate has people paying top dollar for any pickup that they can get their hands on.
It’s kind of strange, though, how one geographical area of the world can be so obsessed with a particular platform and that love just simply doesn’t translate to other areas of the world. For example, if we head over to Europe, the pickup truck is pretty close to nonexistent. Don’t get us wrong, there are some examples sold in Europe but the number is a small fraction of what we find here in the states.
This time, thanks to the Cheddar YouTube channel, we’re able to dive into why exactly that is. Does Europe just not like the concept of the pickup truck? After all, being big, bulky, and powerful is kind of an American thing when it comes to cars.
On the other hand, is it something else that is deterring them from picking up these gas guzzlers? Spoiler alert, fuel efficiency has something to do with it for sure but it doesn’t paint the entire picture.
By following along with the video below, we get to dig in deeper to really grasp the love affair with the pickup truck that we have here and how it doesn’t spread to all parts of the world.
