How Barriers Stop Vehicles, And The Damage They Can Cause
Barriers are necessary in all parts of life. From toxic people to out of control cars, we need ways to stop bad things from proceeding. I’m not much help when it comes to keeping toxic people out of your life, but I do have some great footage today of barriers doing their job and stopping speeding vehicles in their tracks.
From what I can tell, these are all type of barriers that are deployable, disappearing into the ground until they are needed. With either the push of a button or the triggering of a sensor, these barriers appear almost as if by magic, yet as you will see in the video below, they do an amazing job of stopping even the largest of vehicles right in their tracks.
We kick things off with these net-style barriers that actually resemble the catch net at the top end of a drag strip to catch any cars that lose the brakes or if the chutes fail to deploy. However, it is readily apparent that these barriers are made from some type of ultra-strong cables, as they are able to stop everything from cars to SUVs to semi trucks, seemingly effortlessly. It’s really crazy to see something that looks like a fabric net that most any car could drive through with no problem working so effectively as a barrier against all types of vehicles.
There are also a couple of clips of bollards, those vertical poles we often see in front of business and buildings to keep cars from driving into the building. While many are permanent, these are actually retractable, withdrawing back into the ground when they’re not needed to allow traffic and pedestrians to travel freely.
It’s really crazy to watch footage like this of these security measures being activated to deploy, appearing out of nowhere, only to stop a speeding truck in it’s tracks. That’s some pretty amazing technology, folks!
