How to blow up an airbag like a boss! Sending rim and tire flying!
It’s no secret you and your friends can have a lot of fun with an airbag and stuff to launch with it. There are tons of videos out there about various items being launched to surprising heights using only the force of the chemical reaction that takes place when an airbag is deployed as propellant.
This group of buddies – YouTuber JT Hunt and a his friends – take to the desert to partake in some wholesome airbag-exploding fun. The crew brings several cameras so we get various views of the action, including a drone for awesome overhead footage! Hunt and friends take an airbag and attach a wire to the trigger, then place a spare wheel and tire over the armed airbag assembly. They then run the wire to a nearby (but not too near!) battery to be used as the detonator. After the obligatory countdown, the wire is touched to the battery and KABOOM! The airbag instantaneously inflates, sending the spare wheel what looks to be several stories high in the sky. Even the airbag assembly itself takes flight and gets some impressive air!
They try to wire up another airbag from a newer-model car, but the launch fails to produce an explosion, but the group vowed to figure out what went wrong and try again in a future video!
