How to Fix Car Parts Instead of Buying New Ones
Scotty Kilmer has parlayed his quirky, but lovable personality into pretty massive YouTube presence, having amassed nearly 900,000 subscribers who flock to his content to see what he comes up with next.
While most huge channels tend to stray from what got them where they are, Scotty has remained true to his original purpose: providing real world, useful information about car buying and repairing your car in your own garage. For the most part, Scotty’s fixes are simple, with him offering tips and tricks to get it right without breaking the budget.
In this video, Kilmer has another of his Quick Fix tips for how to repair broken sensors using everybody’s favorite quick-fix product, JB Weld. JB Weld has a line of epoxies that work for fixing all kinds of things, including metal and plastic. This particular sensor is made of plastic, so Scotty shares a great tip for sealing the plastic to make sure you get the functionality you need without having to buy another pricey sensor.
By simply slipping a short piece of plastic tubing inside the sensor, you provide a base for the JB Weld to adhere to. Then all you have to do is slather on the epoxy, let it set up, then you can slip the hose back over it and use it just like it was intended. This simple fix lets you use the sensor you already have without having to deal with tracking down another sensor at a junk yard or buying a new one.
Tips and tricks like this are a huge part of what we love about Scotty’s channel. The other part that keeps us coming back is his delivery, a laughable mix of fact and fun, with Kilmer adding in some humor to his advice, creating a channel that truly enjoyable to watch. We can’t wait to see what he comes up with next, both on the mechanic side and the comedian side.
