How To Make Fire With A Lemon
Well, if you ever find yourself in the woods without a lighter or matches, but just happen to have a lemon, some copper clips, zinc nails, wire and steel wool, don’t fret, you can still start a fire to keep warm.
Following the steps in this short video, you can use the lemon as a natural battery, with the nails and clips allowing you to pull up to five volts from the citrus and send it down the wire to a pile of steel wool, which becomes a controlled short circuit, building enough heat to ignite some tinder and eventually build to a potentially life-saving fire.
While the premise is a bit silly – who’s going to have all of those things and be without a regular source of fire – but the concept is still pretty cool and might make a fun experiment to try with your kids for a science fair project.
