Hyundai Teams Up With Bisimoto To Build 708-HP Sonata For SEMA
At last year’s SEMA show, we saw Hyundai and Californian tuner Bisimoto unveil a Genesis Coupe with, wait for it, 1,000 horsepower! Well, the two have partnered up again and this time the basis for their modding is a humble 2015 Hyundai Sonata. Bisimoto specializes in extracting huge output from Hyundai engines, and this will be perfectly demonstrated by its custom Sonata which promises to deliver 708 horsepower.
We’re not talking an engine swap here. Instead, Bisimoto says it has taken the Sonata’s stock 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine and enhanced almost every element while adding some new features. Key among the upgrades will be forged internals, a high-revving valvetrain and a high-boost turbocharger. The engine will also be programmed to run on a flex-fuel diet.

The engine will be paired with a six-speed manual transmission, and it looks like drive will still go to the front wheels only. We’re sure the rest of the chassis will also be beefed up to handle all the extra power. For example, we hear that the car will be fitted with a set of 18-inch aluminum wheels from Fifteen52.
Complementing the extensive overhaul under the hood, Bisimoto will add a custom wrap for the exterior and give the interior a sporty feel with a number of race car features. There will also be a custom aero package with a huge GT wing, and a stainless steel exhaust system.
The custom Sonata will be revealed on the Hyundai stand at the 2014 SEMA show on November 4. To see what else will be on show at the world’s biggest tuning fest, head to our dedicated hub.
