In the Future, Cars Might not be Booted but Rather “Windshield Barnacled” Instead
Just picture this, you might be having a night out on the town, when all of a sudden, you come back to your car and find a massive visor suction cupped to your window, essentially blocking your view from wherever you need to see you in order to be able to safely operate your vehicle. After reading that the device is designed to stop you in your tracks after you fail to pay a couple of parking tickets, you decide that you’re not having any of it, leaning your head out the window and trying to continue along anyway. It’s at this point and time that the device starts making a loud screeching siren of a sound, attempting you to embarrass you into not driving any longer and further distracting you.
Now, this might sound like some sort of science fiction way of replacing a boot that is designed to keep your car in place, however, if you live in some areas, this device known as the “barnacle” might just be a reality as authorities think that it could be able to help out with parking enforcement, removing the ability to tamper with the device and making it easier for the government to enforce these kinds of laws. Personally, we can already see someone wrecking their car and attempting to sue, but that’s just us.
If you follow along down in the video below, you can read a little bit more about the barnacle, as this news report describes exactly how it plans to work and how you may see it coming to a town near you. If you keep up-to-date on your parking tickets or, you know, park within the law, this probably isn’t something that you have to worry about all that much but if you’re one of those offenders who likes to not pay up on their dues, you might be expecting to see an intrusive object like this making its way to a windshield near you. Be sure to chime in with your thoughts on how something like this compares to a more traditional way of parking ticket payment enforcement like a boot.
