Is the Rolls-Royce SUV a Massive Flop or Potential All-Star in the Making?

In this day and age, when you look in some certain directions in the automotive community, it’s kind of a strange time to be alive when you see what certain companies are doing. In this particular sense, we’re talking about the emerging trend that is taking companies that claim to be exclusive premium brands dedicated completely to either high-end luxury, performance, or some mix of both, but are now taking that image and twisting it up a little bit, perhaps trying to tap into a potential new audience that could make them even more boatloads of money.

Enter a concept that might just make every Rolls-Royce purist melt all the way down to their core.

Now, it’s really yet to be seen exactly how these different SUVs are going to perform when they hit the market and how well they’re actually going to sell but initial impressions have pretty much everybody that chimes in on these matters completely split. From our experience, about half of the crowd is saying to just let it ride and see how it all pans out and the other half is practically holding back their bodily fluids when they see exactly what’s coming out of these premium automakers who have since decided to try something new. The Lamborghini Urus yielded a similar reaction earlier this year.

This time, the subject of discussion is none other than a Rolls-Royce that they have come out with in the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, a vehicle designed to satisfy the SUV segment, but is instead labeled a “high-bodied vehicle” by the manufacturer. Essentially, what that means, in layman’s terms, is that they don’t want to admit to making an SUV because they probably, in all honesty, feel like it would tarnish their brand image but they also want all of the benefits offered by an SUV in that new potential line of customers.

In any scenario, you can check out exactly what this new Rolls is going to offer along with its four-wheel steering four-wheel-drive platform boasting a 6.75L twin turbo v12 application throwing down 650 horsepower, which really does promise to be a little bit saucy. Even though this platform has lots of naysayers and we can’t really be sure how many people are actually going to buy one, we’re incredibly excited to see one of these things in action.
