Jay Leno’s Garage: This $2.9M Bugatti Chiron Goes From 0 To 60 mph In Just 2.5 Seconds With Jessi Combs.
One of our favorite things about Jay Leno’s Garage is the incredibly diverse lineup of guests who join Jay for his adventures. We’ve seen the obvious Hollywood types who are Jay’s friends from way back, a few famous race car drivers and some musicians who share Jay’s love for all things automotive. However, some of the lesser-known names – at least to the general public outside the automotive community – are the ones that we get the most excited about.
In this short preview for his upcoming date with the ridiculously over-the-top Bugatti Chiron, Jay gets to know off-road racer, television personality, fabricator and all-around general badass chick Jessi Combs, who joins him and actually climbs behind the wheel of the Chiron, a car she pegs as her “unicorn bucket list car”. Although unofficially outperformed in the 0-400-0 km/h test by the Koenigsegg Agera RS, the record run for the Koenigsegg wasn’t backed up, so the Chiron is the currently the fastest production car in the world, capable of reaching speeds of 261 MPH thanks to the quad-turbocharged 1,480 horsepower W-16 engine.
While we will have to wait for the episode to air to see just how far she pushes the car, Jessi is no stranger to speed. Combs is currently the world record holder for the fastest woman on four wheels, having been as fast as 477 MPH. She eventually hopes to become the fastest woman driver on the planet period by breaking a record set all the way back in 1976. The car being built to make those record attempts is rather unique as it’s a wingless fighter jet that’s been adapted for use as a land speed racer.
Look for Jessi and Jay to take the Chrion for a spirited spin when the new episode airs Thursday! We suspect the two have a very good time behind the wheel of such an insane ride.
