Kayla Morton Making Test Passes in Her ProCharged Mustang!
By now, most of you guys have seen Street Outlaws star and no prep badass Kayla Morton’s new ProCharged Mustang in action. The car was introduced back in March and has laid down some killer passes in the car in the months since its debut.
However, each new track, especially in the no prep world, represents a completely new set of challenges and you can really see that in this footage from our friend Justin over at the JMalcom2004 YouTube Channel. Justin was on hand at Dorchester Dragway in South Carolina when Kayla and her ride, lovingly dubbed “The Hot Mess Express”, rolled into town for a small no prep invitational.
Having never been to this facility, Kayla was starting from scratch to learn the surface and how much ProCharged power she and her team could throw at it. To put it bluntly, there’s not much traction to be had, so it’s obvious early on they’re gonna have to pull a lot of power from the potent supercharged combination to get the car down the track.
On the first pass, the car moves just a few feet before blowing the tires off, forcing Kayla to abort the run and head back to the pits to tweak the tuneup. On the second run, it sounds like they’ve lowered the launch RPM a bit and pulled even more power down low, but the car still spins the tires and pitches the rear end out to the left, sending Kayla toward the centerline and resulting in another aborted pass.
While these two hits certainly didn’t go as planned for the Hot Mess Express, there’s zero doubt she and her crew got the car dialed in for the shootout. With a little more tweaking on the tune and perhaps some suspension adjustments, the car should be able to find enough traction to make solid passes on even the worst of tracks, including this slick South Carolina venue.
