Keith Haney Has A Hard Crash At NMCA Pro Mod Race
This past weekend at the NMCA Pro Mod race at Bradenton, things were shaping up well for Keith Haney. One quick browse through the Haney’s Racing team Facebook page would lead us to believe that he was rather happy with how the car was performing. In his own words, Haney relayed “We have had an amazing time going our fastest ET and MPH so now all we need to do is go WIN.”
However, as racing often does, it would end up cutting that goal short. The crazy thing about a crash is that it can happen to anyone on any pass. Physics and fate don’t necessarily care if you qualified first or if you’re having a career-best run. No matter what the cause, a mishap can happen on any pass. After all, there are plenty of moving parts that go into any given drag racing hit. If one thing goes wrong, it can really end up throwing a wrench in the gears.
This time, we watch as Haney blasts his way down the track, only to have a misstep as the car slid toward the center. It looks as if the machine pulled the front wheels up, disabling steering for just long enough to lead the car astray. As it slid away from the sticky part of the track, it was basically a foregone conclusion. When the car began to slide, there wasn’t too much that Haney would be able to do to recover it. It was out of his hands at that point.
Luckily, the driver was alright following the incident. The car, on the other hand, It’s probably going to need some major reconstruction if it ever wants to see the track again. Sometimes, racing just deals a hand that you don’t want to have. We get a feeling that it won’t be very long before we see Haney out there again, though.
