Keith Haney Marches to Win At Radial Revenge Tour
Knowing he was facing a formidable opponent in the final around, Tulsa Raceway Park co-owner Keith Haney and his nitrous-injected Camaro uncorked his best run of the weekend to lock up his first win of the 2018 season over the twin turbocharged Camaro of Tim Slavens. The numbers on the board in Haney’s lane read as follows: 3.75 seconds at 197.86 MPH with the winlight illuminated. In the other lane, Slavens fought a valiant fight, putting up a very competitive 3.78 elapsed time at 212.26 MPH, perfectly illustrating just how closely matched the ET’s are for the two drastically different combinations.
“Yeah, I treed him by over two hundredths (of a second) and never looked back; never saw him the whole way down. It felt good and I knew it was on a good pass, too, but it wasn’t until I looked up and saw the scoreboard that I knew just how good. This was a big win for our team.” said Haney in a press release following the event. “We thought Slavens would go 3.76 or so, somewhere in that area, so we tuned ‘er up. My guys told me when I went up there, we’re either going to spin or win. But it was a good track, David Cook did a great job on it there, and that car was on a rail from A to B. It was pretty much a perfect run for [the] conditions.”
The 3.75 elapsed time in the finals would also serve as the Tulsa Raceway Park class record for Radial vs the World, which Haney attributed to his team and equipment. “I have so many people to thank. Of course my crew chiefs, Brandon Pesz and Brandon Switzer, those guys are the best, as well as Cody Moore, Dale Hancock, Cale Hancock, Trey Eberle, Shane Goodnight and Kimmy Kimmelyn Buff-Pesz. I also want to thank my helpers Braylee and Kilee and their beautiful mother and my girl Misty Hayes, along with my close friends who came and stayed all day and supported me: Roman Lamborn, Scott Farley, Chris Williams and Beth Dalton. But most of all thank you to all my sponsors and fans. I can’t say enough about how much your support means to me and our team.”
Haney will have both of the KHR Twins in action in just a couple of weeks at the Outlaws Street Car Reunion, moving this year from Memphis to the historic Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky. With both his RvsW Camaro and his big tire pro mod on hand, Haney’s looking to score the rare double-up at the fifth running of the OSCR!
