Koenigsegg One:1 – Exclusive First Look

What can we say about a car like the Koenigsegg One:1?  This is a truly beast of a car.  If you are not familiar with the One:1, let’s start with the “tale of the tape”.  The power is derived from a 5.0 Liter V8. This is not the 5.0 that is in your everyday Ford Mustang driving down the road.  This is a 26.1 psi twin turbo, 1,341 horsepower and 1,011 ft/lb of torque, monster of a V8. Now this is very usable torque, with 738 lb-ft available from 3000 rpm and growing all the way to the 8,250 red line.  That is a lot of power for any vehicle, but the One:1 tips the scales at a hair under 3,000 lbs making it one of the lightest supercars out there.

You have to thinking in your head “look out Bugatti, you are about to be de-throned”.  The Bugatti makes 1,200 hp out of 4 turbos and 16 cylinders, where the Koenigsegg in question makes 141 hp more with half the motor, just 2 turbos and 8 cylinders.  The Bugatti Veyron Super Sport also tips the scales at just over 4,000 lbs making it over 1,000 lbs heavier than the One:1. Bugatti will need to put its tail between its legs until its next-generation car arrives.

Driver, Robert Serwanski, take us up to 186 mph in seconds, shows the handling capability and a very cool powerslide. All in a car ‘only’ running in 1150hp mode and on Pilot Super Sport tires as opposed to the stickier Michelin Cup 2s.”  We really can’t wait to see this thing in full power mode. Koenigsegg has been very hush-hush about acceleration times or 1/4 mile speeds, except a 0 -249 mph time in 20 seconds.  Not too many knows what that feels like, but let us tell you, that is fast.

Watch this awesome video and jump on board the epic Koenigsegg One:1 at the factory for a blast off at the runway. We are allowed to see a few runs from the passenger seat to experience the mind-boggling power and performance in the first production ‘megacar’.
