Kurt Busch: Dale’s Retirement is a ‘Big Surprise’
If you’ve been hiding out under a rock, you might not have heard about Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s recent announcement that he will be retiring from NASCAR after this season. Junior has been out and about on the track for quite a while so this isn’t necessarily an out-of-left-field decision but, when a driver of this stature decides to throw in the towel, it’s always going to cause somewhat of a shockwave.
Both fans and peers alike have been soaking in the news for the past day or two now and it’s finally to the point where we can start to get comments to see exactly what everybody around the water cooler is thinking in relationship to this legend’s announcement that this will be his final curtain call at tracks around the country.
This time, Kurt Busch sounds off as a driver that has been racing beside Earnhardt Jr. for years and tells us that it’s a “big surprise but at the same time it isn’t.” He continues that everyone will miss him and he’s truly irreplaceable in the world of racing. I guess in the long term, you really never want to see a run like this come to an end, but at the end of the day, all good things must do so.
Check out the video down below that will give you the rundown of everything that Busch said about Junior’s retirement. Be sure to tell us what you think about the timing of Dale’s decision to give this season a final hurrah before taking a step toward doing other things for himself.
