Laguna Seca Corkscrew Claims a Lamborghini Super Trofeo EVO!
This is a clip that will make your heart sink, if a crash this brutal had happen before HANS devices were required we might be dealing with a massive injury crash. But luckily these cars are equipped with the best safety equipment in the world. Full roll cages, fire suites, HANS devices and many more new technological advancements in safety to make sure these drivers have minimal injuries in massives crashes.
Sheena Monk is currently in stable condition after a brutal crash in this Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America race at Laguna Seca. Her Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo lost it’s brakes and it went straight into the wall at the top part of the famous Laguna Seca Corkscrew. She only had 6 minutes complete of the nearly one hour race.
She was going so fast it threw the Lamborghini Super Trofeo in the air and slammed down on all 4 wheels. The race ended up being red flagged so the safety crews could extract Monk from the mangled Lamborghini. IMSA reported that Sheena Monk is conscious and has been taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center.
This goes to show how dangerous racing can be and how fast your racing career can be finished, but luckily for Monk it looks like she will be back out racing in no time! We hate to see a car destroyed and doubt that it will be able to be repaired as the chassis might be totaled after an impact like that. We are just glad the safety equipment did ti’s job!
This just goes to show how important safety is in all kinds of racing. We are glad to report that Monk is in stable condition and we are sure her family is very happy there were no major injuries!
