Lamborghini Sian Roadster Debut – Lambo’s First Release After Vowing “No More Auto Shows”

Even in a global pandemic, seven-figure Lamborghini “V12 super sports cars” are being sold out before they’re even news.

When the Lamborghini Sian dropped late last year, the world was blown away by the design that’s taking Lamborghini into the future. While sharing architecture with the Aventador, the Sian promises “Important technologies” as “The first step in Lamborghini’s road to electrification.”

The V12 onboard is complimented by a supercapacitor. Lamborghini says that the car is the “First super capacitor-based hybrid V12 by Automobili Lamborghini.” In turn, it also looks to be the first use of a supercapacitor in a hybrid at all. From what we understand, the supercapacitor, unlike a battery, is able to store energy and release it all at once. The combination is supposed to be able to harness 10 times the power of a standard battery combination.

With that, the platform promises a top speed over 200 mph thanks to 774 hp from the power sources.

Interested? If that’s the case, then we have to apologize. In addition to having a ridiculous bank account, this is one of those “Need to know somebody” deals. By the time these sorts of releases hit the press, it’s likely too late. If you’re just now hearing about this, the 19 available units have already been sold out. This is even rarer than that 63 examples of the Sian coupe which also flew off of the shelves.

It does seem like the roadster has a lot in common with the coupe, minus the roof, of course. It’s still fun to look at, especially in the Blu Uranus color that they picked out for the reveal. However, with the limited run, each owner will be able to pick out their very own custom color from Lamborghini’s paint shop.

Lamborghini says that the open-top version is the “Perfect symbol of freedom after a period of lockdown in many countries worldwide due to the pandemic emergency.” We’re not going to lie. The Countach-inspired roadster does look like the perfect escape from all of the craziness unfolding in the world today!
