Motor Running Like a Chicken with it’s “Head” Cut Off, Engine Running With No Cylinder Head
In modern engines, each and every part is engineered to have a specific purpose to make the engine work, as the group of parts come together in unison. When you start stripping it apart, you will find that the vast majority of the pieces that you come across are necessary for regular functioning.
While we get that, sometimes, there might be extra parts laying around the garage after you slap an engine back together, we don’t think that anyone has ever put their engine back together and forgot to mount the head on it before trying to start it.
Watch as this DIY mechanic took apart his small engine to check for damage then decided that he would try and crank the engine over and get it running all without a cylinder head bolted on. As you probably know, a cylinder head is necessary for a variety of processes from cooling to mixing together the air and fuel mixture.
Will this little experiment work? Check out the process below as the engine is fired up without a head on board to see exactly what will happen. Before checking out the results, what do you think the result of this little experiment will be? Is catastrophe upon us?
