Murder Nova Goes Radial Racing, Meets Catastrophic Failure

This past weekend, some race series managed to get back to business. One of those competitions would unfold at Radial Fest at Huntsville Dragway. The event would bring out some heavy hitters to shake off the cobwebs and get into the 2020 racing season. One of those racers just so happened to be a familiar face as Murder Nova was among those to hit the strip.

In the outing, things didn’t exactly go so well for everybody’s favorite sinister Nova. As it turns out, even for those who are the most thorough in their preparation, things can tend to go wrong sometimes. We often forget that, over the course of a race, winning isn’t about just being the fastest. Instead, it’s about being the fastest, most consistent, and most durable. Drop one of those elements from the equation and things likely won’t pan out.

This time, we follow along with the day as Shawn uploaded the action on his own 187 Customs YouTube channel. From what we see, early on, the event would provide a challenge. As Shawn seems to put it, the racing surface didn’t quite seem to be agreeing with his car. This is a frequent problem for all sorts of drag racers. After getting to the track and testing, there’s pretty much always the need to make some adjustments to the car to get it to make its way down the track without losing traction.

In this battle, things actually looked like they started to go pretty well. Eventually, the Nova would dig down and be able to make a clean pass down the strip. However, it’s not long after that Shawn would discover an issue with the car. Shawn acted as a sort of detective, digging through the engine to find evidence. Eventually, one thing would lead to the next and it turned out rather catastrophic.

By following along with the video below, we get to ride along before the event to see just how it all went down.
