NASCAR Acquires ARCA series
In a surprise move Friday, NASCAR announced the acquisition of the ARCA series. ARCA which was founded in 1953 by former competitor, former NASCAR employee, and friend of Bill France SR. John Marcum. Then known as the Midwest Association for Race Cars (MARC for short). As of now we know the 2018-19 seasons will go on as planned, with no changes. We could see undetermined changes in the 2020 racing season
The series became a part of the famous Daytona Speedweeks in 1964 at the request of Bill France who also suggested the name change to ARCA which is short for Automobile Racing Association of America to broaden it’s exposure.
Because of the similarities between the ARCA series, and NASCAR cars, and the tracks they race on the series has helped in the development of several young NASCAR drivers before they begin their NASCAR career, names like Kyle Petty, Kyle Busch, Justin Allgaier, Casey Mears, and Sam Hornish Jr.
Former NASCAR series Champion, and Hall of Famer Benny Parsons even won a couple of ARCA series championships.
