NASCAR has been hit with a $500 million dollar lawsuit

When you have grown into the mammoth size that NASCAR has grown to, you are constantly under the public eye which opens you up for scrutiny in many cases.

The latest gun that has been drawn on NASCAR is being held by Terrance Cox and his racing company, Diversity Motorsports Racing LLC, who are accusing NASCAR of preventing black teams and drivers from competing in their races.

Country Rebel reports that the team is seeking $500 million total in compensatory and punitive damages in a lawsuit that says that there are no black drivers present and the Sprint Cup Series. The site continues to tell us that “The suit alleges that the plaintiffs were barred from participating in NASCAR’s “Drive For Diversity” program, and were even told to ‘cease contact’ by the racing organization.”

If the plaintiff should win this battle, their attorney says that any money awarded would go towards a group that supports minority participation in motorsports.

NASCAR has since released a statement denying all allegations and saying that “Diversity both on and off the track continues to be a top priority for NASCAR and its stakeholders. We stand behind our actions, and will not let a publicity-seeking legal action deter us from our mission.”

What do you think of this suit brought against NASCAR? Is it a legitimate claim? Are the plaintiffs just seeking publicity like NASCAR insists that they are? What is your take?
