New Audi R8 Commercial Banned By ASA For Linking Speed With Excitement
While some people would like less control over the media and advertising, others would like it to be completely regulated. I think we can all agree, though, that even with differing viewpoints, there is a happy medium somewhere to be had.
This time, no matter what your viewpoint may be, it looks like this advertising regulation by the Advertising Standards Authority in the UK has gone just a little bit too far with banning this Audi advertisement.
Via Auto Express, we’re told that “The ad, which depicted an eyeball contracting and dilating as the supercar accelerated through its gears, was pulled after the authority declared it breached regulations. The decision was made after just a single viewer complained that the advert was ‘irresponsible’.” Associating cars with excitement was the reasoning behind the decision.
If this isn’t a far stretch of the imagination, we aren’t really sure exactly what is. If trends like this keep up, it isn’t going to be long before we are all looking at nothing more than black and white text on our screens.
Check out the advertisement in the video below and tell us what you think on this call to ban the commercial in the United Kingdom.
