The New Porsche Cayman GT4 is “Better Than a Porsche 911”
When it comes to performance car companies, normally, they have a pretty odd predicament. Across there a lineup, obviously, there are all sorts of different models. Naturally, these companies need to create different offerings to meet different needs. Some people want an all-out outperformance monster and others would rather have a quick ride on a tighter budget. Companies like Porsche spend a lot of time and money sorting this out.
The predicament comes when they have to try and make one car not as good as the next. Surely, every team within a company like Porsche wants to make the best product that they can. However, having a middle-grade model override the flagship would certainly stand to create a confusing situation.
If you ask YouTube car reviewer, Doug DeMuro, he thinks that exactly that phenomenon might’ve happened with Porsche. In this one, he takes a look at the 2020 Porsche Cayman GT4. In the thorough overview of the 414 hp naturally-aspirated monster, he notices something a little bit odd.
The car comes in at a price of $101,000 before options. That’s about half the price of the Porsche 911 Turbo S. However, DeMuro argues that this top-tier version of the Cayman might just be better than big brother. That’ll be sure to create a little bit of friction and turbulence in the Porsche community but hey, I guess the guy has a strong opinion.
By following along with the video below, we learn exactly what it is about this bright yellow Porshce that has DeMuro entranced. Is it possible that this mid-level machine could’ve dethroned the king? Is this just another hot take by an automotive journalist?
I guess that the beauty is in the eye of the beholder. When hearing something like this from a well-respected individual like DeMuro, though, it certainly makes folks take a second look.
