Nitro Funny Car Runs Over Two Crew Members!

Crew members on nitro funny cars are some of the most highly-trained mechanics in all of motorsports, a necessity when dealing with upwards of 6,000 horsepower. However, despite their training and attention to detail, sometimes things just go wrong, and the results can be disastrous.

These crewmen are readying the Candies and Hughes nostalgia Nitro Funny Car for a pass at Maple Grove Raceway when a potentially deadly chain of events unfolded. The support crew attached the remote starter and kicked the engine over, and the car leapt forward, sending both crewmen for a tumble before the driver was able to corral the runaway hotrod. Luckily, the crew members were able to push themselves out of the way of the tires, so they weren’t ran over by the car itself. They jumped to their feet and immediately returned to their duties, killing the engine as the obviously-shaken driver walked away from the car.

There were no obvious injuries, other than some shaken nerves and possibly some scuffed knees and elbows, but this situation could have been far worse.
