Old wood splitting machine, how they used to do it back in the day
Today, there are some pretty stout machines designed purely with the intention of aiding you with splitting wood in mind. If you take one trip to your local hardware store, you’ll find that selection to choose from is incredibly vast but what did they use back in the old days to help them split wood?
Until now, I was personally under the impression that before this modern machinery, everyone was out there with nothing more than an axe and their bare hands, chopping away at their wood with the intention of sizing it down to more practical and usable dimensions.
This time, however, we get a look at an old school wood splitting machine that is able to use a small engine to turn a wheel that is fitted with a sharp and sturdy blade that allows for wood to be split with ease. I guess it turns out that mankind was a little bit more advanced than we originally anticipated
Getting a good look at these old machines is really exciting to show you exactly what life was like back in the day and it might just give you a little bit more appreciation for the creature comforts that are available to us today, all within an arm’s reach.
