On This Day 16 Years Ago, The Very First Fast and the Furious Film Was Released.
It’s hard to believe it has been this long… Makes all of us feel old to even think it has been 16 years!
Some background on the film –
“An undercover cop (Paul Walker) infiltrates the world of street racing to solve a series of truck hijackings perpetrated by Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) in this first installment of the popular franchise.”
“A magazine article about real-life car racing gangs for Vibe becomes this fast-paced automotive thriller from director Rob Cohen. Paul Walker stars as Brian O’Conner, a youthful FBI agent investigating a series of hijackings by going undercover with a street gang led by charismatic Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel).”
“Caught up in Toretto’s world of gang conflict that is resolved in late-night car races, Spindler starts to sympathize with his chief suspect and falls in love with Toretto’s younger sister Mia (Jordana Brewster). In the meantime, Spindler initially suspects the wrong gang of complicity in the crimes he’s probing, while Toretto remains involved in a forbidden romance, à la Romeo and Juliet, with his girlfriend Letty (Michelle Rodriguez). The Fast and the Furious co-stars Ted Levine, Rick Yune, and Matt Schulze.”
It’s hard to believe it has been 16 years since the premiere of “The Fast and the Furious,” the first of a film dynasty that has gotten bigger by the years. Nobody expected it to be this big when the first film came out 16 years ago. Jordana Brewster, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez and Vin Diesel are pictured below, the orignal stars of the film, on June 22nd 2001 at the premiere in Los Angeles CA!
Look how young they all looked here… Compared to how they looked at at a later film premiere…
