One BAD SUV… 1646 AWHP 2017 Nissan Patrol 2 DOOR First Attempt At The Drag Strip
One of the fun things about building your very own performance dream is that it can take whatever shape you wanted to. If you want your machine to be quick, fast, and look like a sports car, grabbing attention everywhere that goes, that’s definitely something you could take on. On the other hand, if you want your machine to have a little bit more of a sleek sleeper look, it’s definitely also accomplishable. It might take a little bit more work to get down properly but it’s definitely something that we have seen done very well.
This time, we have the opportunity to take a look at a machine that falls very nicely into the latter. You might not recognize the Nissan Patrol at first glance because it isn’t available here in the United States, however, if you’re familiar with the racing scene overseas, you might know that this is just that platform that many will use for their very performance needs whether they be in the sand dunes, on the drag strip, or maybe even some sort of mix of both. This one, in particular, we check out as it hits the drag strip for the very first time and the results are interesting to see as the AWD system gets tapped into.
As it is the first time making its way down the track, you can see that the driver goes incredibly easy on the two-door SUV that boasts over 1600 hp at the tires. However, regardless of that fact, the truck still manages to wiggle its way to an 11.0-second pass at just over 142mph. Something tells us that when all of the factors line up and the driver is able to launch this thing hard, it should pretty easily make its way into the single digits. We also get the feeling that it’s only a matter of time before you see that rowdy pass.
