Overloaded Boat Takes on Water in the Crazy Waves of the Haulover Inlet

We have definitely watched enough boating videos to know that it’s very important for boaters to pay attention to that capacity sticker. Onboard every boat, there should be a sticker that allows those on board to know just how many people or how much weight a boat can handle. Sure, some have pushed the limits and gotten away with it. However, as we see in this situation, others definitely haven’t gotten away with it. In fact, the situation can be dire.

This time, we take a trip to the infamous Haulover Inlet where a group of boaters apparently decided that they wanted to push their luck. The vessel in question is relatively small and we would be shocked if it were safe for more than three or four people. However, this vessel was presumably operating at about double the headcount that would be safe for it. At the end of the day, things didn’t end up going as poorly as they could have but the people onboard came very close to putting this thing under the surface of the water.

The weight onboard the boat combined with the choppy conditions that the inlet is known for definitely didn’t prove to go together very well that day. In fact, the vessel would start taking on water rather quickly after the two clashed in the inlet.

Luckily, it wouldn’t take on too much water to the point where the boat started going under the surface. Fortunately, for all parties involved, the guy behind the camera at Wavy Boats actually took it upon himself to get on the radio and call the appropriate help. From there, we watch the rescue mission unfold. As all of the people begin to pile off of the boat, the vessel ends up being saved with the help of a handy bilge pump.

By following along with the video below, we get to see exactly how it all went down. In the world of close calls in boating, this one definitely has to rank somewhere near the top. These people should be thanking their lucky stars that they didn’t go for a swim and potentially lose a boat on that day.
