Paul Walkers character Brian O’Conner to return in the Fast and Furious films?
As technology would have it, these days we are able to bring a lot more creations from thoughts to reality than we would have been able to in the old days.
Now, that statement might be pretty obvious but the things that we are using technology for are pretty astounding, you know, like inserting an actor who has passed away into a movie that he wasn’t alive to finish.
Just when you thought that with Paul Walker’s tragic death would come the end of the Brian O’Conner character, technology would wrap up his role in the latest Fast and Furious adventure flick and now, he might even be placed in future films as well.
That’s right. You didn’t misread it and we didn’t stumble on our words. When chatting with Entertainment Tonight, Walker’s brothers talked about their conversation with Vin Diesel and how the idea of keeping Brian O’Conner alive and kickin’ was tossed around.
“I had a phone call with Vin for about an hour and we really discussed this a while back. He wanted [our] blessing,” Caleb said, adding that Diesel asked if and when they thought it “would be acceptable to maybe bring Paul’s character back… to really kind of let his fans know he’s still out there.” –Entertainment Tonight
With Walker, or the CGI inserted version of Walker, driving off into the sunset at the end of the last film, the writers are still left to decide what to do with his character moving forward. It might seem simple, but when you really break it down, it’s quite a tall task.
They need to be very careful to make sure that their actions aren’t offensive to Walker’s family and fans or awkward for the sake of the film. There definitely is a happy middle ground to be had here somewhere, but exactly where that is will remain in question until one course of action is picked over another
The options range from keeping the CGI character going with the help of Walker’s brothers to having the O’Conner character referenced but never again pictured and probably about 100 options in between. Most of this is really nothing new, aside from the thought of actually including a CGI character throughout the entire next movie which is something that has not been discussed as of yet until now.
Only time will tell what the cast and Walker’s family decide is best for the future the franchise but for now, we will leave the speculation up to you. What do you think will happen with Brian O’Conner in the future of the Fast and Furious films?
