Police Identify Ex-Walmart Employee Who Drove Car Through Store After Getting Fired

Getting fired from a job can be an incredibly frustrating experience. In many cases, perhaps, the reason behind a firing isn’t likely to be agreed upon between employer and employee. We aren’t quite sure that we know too many people who have been frustrated enough about being fired that they decided to take their vehicle and ran it through their former place of work, though.

Former Walmart employee Lacy Gentry, 32, who was fired back in February is believed to have rammed his car into a Walmart store in Concord, North Carolina. The incident happened about 6 o’clock in the morning on April 2 as reported by Fox 46.

The exact reason for the incident isn’t 100% known. However, a Concord police spokesman told Fox that “He may have had some problem with the way that management was handling the issue that he had with them.”

The damage caused to the building was said to be extensive and is estimated in the thousands of dollars between repairing the building and replacing the merchandise that was destroyed in the process. The Walmart is still open but obviously not quite operating under normal conditions as of yet.

Gentry has been charged with a pair of felonies. One is assault with a deadly weapon on a government official and the second is breaking and entering.

We would be interested to see what his side of the story is. However, if he was looking to get revenge on somebody for firing him, it looks like that plan might have just backfired. It’s cathartic as we feel like it might be to do something like this, he is most certainly going to be the one that ends up getting the short end of the stick with the charges levied against him. The employee would have been much better off simply walking away.
