Pro Mod racer Stevie “FAST” Jackson debuts with a QUICK pass in Gainesville

Usually, when we talk about Steve “Stevie Fast” Jackson, we’re following his exploits in the outlaw world of Radial vs the World, where he’s a perennial powerhouse and he can let his over-the-top personality shine. However, radial racing is actually not his primary focus. Instead, the affable Jackson has shifted his focus to the world of NHRA legal Pro Modified, where he is making his national debut this weekend at the Gatornationals.

Jackson wasted no time in making his presence felt, ripping off the second quickest ET – a solid 5.81 – in the opening qualifying session, which was his first pass in competition. He would come back in the second session and drop that number to a 5.78 to take the number one spot from Steve Whiteley. Sitting atop the ladder so quickly drew the attention of the NHRA’s tech staff, who did a full engine and chassis inspection on Jacksons’ brand new Bahrain 1 Racing-sponsored Camaro.

The inspection found no rules violations, so Jackson comes into Saturday’s final two qualifiers as the frontrunner, and with his team getting up to speed so quickly, it seems like a safe bet he isn’t going to slow down. The question, at least for now, is can Jackson parlay this early performance into round wins and bring home a win in his first outing? We will know in about 28 hours or so!
