Railroad thermite welding is no joke: Up close and personal

If there is some manual labor that is definitely deserving of respect, it would have to come from the guys who lug around all of those materials to work on the railroad.

Linking coast to coast is an important job and these guys do it well. Luckily they have the use of more advanced processes and equipment than railroad workers of old.

This time, we check out one of those processes that are designed to keep the lengths of railroad together and a type of welding that is known as “thermite welding.”
