Ram 1500 Rebel TRX Concept at the 2016 LA Auto Show
Over the years, the performance truck landscape has definitely something that was fun to play with but it seems like with dwindling interest in pulling out your wallet and cutting a check for one has rendered these things a dying breed out there in the streets, that is, unless you’re willing to undergo some aftermarket support.
Once upon a time, trucks like the Ford Lightning, GMC Syclone, and Toyota X-Runner would roam around the streets and pick on cars of all types but today, the production is scarce. Unless you’re a huge fan of the Ford Raptor or want to dive into the SUV market, there hasn’t really been all that much to pick and choose from.
Because of the aforementioned reasons, we were incredibly excited to hear the news when Dodge released a concept vehicle a couple of months ago in the Ram 1500 Rebel TRX, a truck sporting a supercharged 6.2L V8 pumping out 575 hp with a whole bunch of supporting modifications and wider tires to handle the brunt of the power.
When you mix that up with a lot of cool off-road components to make it durable and more versatile along with purpose designed tools, and body modification, you have yourself a high-performance off-road machine. Now, the disappointing part is that for the time being, at least, this concept vehicle is nothing more than just that, a concept. One can dream though! For now, we’ll just leave you with the video below to check out exactly what could be if this truck ever makes it out to market.
