Richard Hammond is Now Rolling Around in a Customized Wheelchair
A couple of weeks ago, we all were tuned into the fact that The Grand Tour host, Richard Hammond, had been involved in quite a car accident, facilitating the need for him to be airlifted to the hospital. We later found out that Richard was alright and were able to breathe a sigh of relief and, as a fan, I was pleased to see him in his hospital bed in high spirits, grinning away as he was confident that everything would be just fine with a little bit of knee surgery.
Since then, it turns out that Richard has made his way out of the hospital and while he will probably make a full recovery, for the time being, it looks like he’s going to have to use a wheelchair to get around until that knee heals back up once again. As you would imagine, from this presenter that has made his career on the back of some very British humor, Richard has taken his roots and applied them to his situation, modifying his wheelchair just a little bit to make it fit him better.
With a couple of key tweaks here and there, it looks like the electric power chair is now capable of carrying along with Richard’s crutches just a little bit easier than it would’ve been before. As a car guy, I would imagine that, in a situation like this, you just couldn’t help but try to modify your chair. I wouldn’t be surprised if before long, you found Richard under there wrenching away and trying to make this thing faster and convincing the other guys to get their very own wheelchairs so that they could race them.
Anyways, if you’ve been concerned about the well-being of Mr. Hammond, I think of the video below indicates that he’s going to be just fine. In a situation like this, there’s really nothing that you can do to speed it up so you might as well be in good spirits as Richard is when he takes this injury by the horns.
