Roy Halladay Plane Crash Video, Witnesses Say He Was Showboating

In a painfully ironic interview following his retirement from the sport of baseball, Roy Halladay admitted his wife Brandy had fought him on his decision to take up flying. Added Brandy herself in the video which was featured on the website of the company that built the plane Halladay would later perish in, “I was very against it.”

At some point, however, it would seem Brandy relented and gave in to her husband’s dream of flying. The son of a pilot, taking to the skies had always been a part of the ace pitcher’s post-career plan. It seems so unfair, then, that he would die doing just that. The 2010 Cy Young Award winner was flying quite erratically, as can be seen briefly in the video below – which features some questionable language, for those at work or around small children – of the final moments before Halladay’s fatal incident.

It’s hard to say what was going on aboard the plane, if it was experiencing some kind of mechanical failure or if Halladay was just pushing the plane to its limits and pushed just a tad too far. What we do know is that the plane did crash into the Gulf of Mexico and that Halladay was killed in the crash, leaving Brandy and the couple’s two young sons heartbroken.

We aren’t going to jump to conclusions, but we have also seen this type of scenario before. Hopefully Halladay’s too screen and blood-alcohol levels come back negative so as not to tarnish his admittedly-stellar baseball career. Halladay is one of only two major league pitchers to throw a no-hitter in the playoffs, and he also pitched a perfect game in his first season with the Phillies.

We send our prayers and condolences to the Halladay family and those who knew and loved Roy on and off the field.
