SEMI Truck Driver Takes a Right Turn a Little Too Tight… Whoops!

I grew up in and around my dad’s trucking company, so I generally hold truck drivers to a pretty high standard, knowing most of them are generally well trained and use the utmost caution when driving their massive rigs across the nation. However, I also know all too well that many of them are just starting out or are just bad drivers and do things like what you see in the video below.

There’s a chance this is a good driver that just had a momentary lapse in judgement, but the more likely explanation is the driver is new to the profession and is still learning how to navigate turns with a 48 foot trailer in his mirror. In this case, he cut it just a tad too tight and snagged the trailer on a utility pole. Luckily the rig was moving slowly and only bumped the pole, as it would have been far worse if it had broken from the impact.
