Simple Hack Uses Hot Water to Magically Pull Out Bumper Dent
If there’s one thing that nobody wants to deal with, it’s the bodywork. Generally, this sort of work necessitates a little bit of cash expenditure. Even when using the shops that are a little bit cheaper, let’s just say that you better be ready to dig into the bank account a bit. To make matters even worse, this sort of job usually comes on the other end of an unpleasant situation, sometimes, the result of an accident.
However, for those who are handy or maybe just a little bit creative, there are measures that can be taken in order to avoid bodywork that might otherwise be necessary.
Now, we wouldn’t necessarily say that something like this should be done to a show car or that it’s going to be 100% perfect. However, for those who have a daily driver with a dent here and there, maybe something like this could serve to bring it closer to the whole once again.
This time, we check out the old hot water trick. Upon pouring hot water on the bumper of this particular car that has a sizable dent in the bumper, after a couple of seconds, the dent begins to disappear.
We aren’t entirely certain about the science behind something like this. However, we would be left to assume that it has to do with the rapid expansion and contraction of bumper material when exposed to extreme levels of temperature. On one hand, hot water is being poured on the bumper but then, almost instantaneously, the cold environment chills it, shrinking the plastic and popping the dent out.
Down below, we get to see the method in action. This isn’t necessarily something that we would do without a little bit of research but it could potentially save somebody hundreds of dollars in a little bit of paintless dent removal.
