Soldering Iron Mod DIY, Why Didn’t I think of That?
Around an effective garage, you’ll find lots of tools that are designed to take on different purposes. While there are many tools that could accomplish various jobs, having just the right tool is the best way to complete the job properly and come out with the most professional finish. With the use of a solder gun, you can make nice and clean connections with wires that will be strong for years to come. Many would argue that it’s the best possible way for doing electrical work and it really creates a clean finished product. However, there are ways that the soldering could be improved.
This time, we check out a little modification to a soldering iron that takes a tube and adds it to the top to speed up your solder to make its way to the heat. Normally, how this would work, would be with the user holding that solder in one hand and the iron in the other, using the hot iron to melt the metal and quickly cool it to create a connection. However, this time, we take a look at how you could do it all with one hand as the feed takes the solder and puts it directly to the tip of the iron where it will melt, taking two motions and molding them into one.
Follow along in the video below as this little modification comes to life. I think that this kind of thing is going to divide people with some saying that it’s a neat idea that could save time and others saying that they would probably rather just use two hands for a job like this. After watching this one for yourself, be sure to tells what you think of the job done here. Would you rather just do it the old school way or do you think that a slight modification like this could make your day of work just a little bit easier?
