Stick Shift Corvette Rips Off 200 MPH Pass, First in History

When you dig into the action that starts happening in the months pushing towards the winter, especially on the east coast where the air gets nice and chilly, you begin to watch records start to fall. One of the places where you can expect this kind of thing to happen would out at the annual Import vs Domestics World Cup Finals at Maryland International Raceway where you will see some of the nastiest cars from all around the world come out for quarter-mile competition with plenty of records failing to stand as the weather combined with the amazing track preparation can tend to facilitate lots of record book rewriting.

This past weekend, at the 2018 rendition of the event, one of the records that we saw make its way into the books was the first 200 mph quarter mile pass by a six-speed stick shift car ever. There has certainly been a lot of competition in the stick shift community, at least in the General Motors realm as a couple of competitors have been grinding their way toward the 7s, as people have been battling to make their way to the title of “first.” Meanwhile, the battle to 200 mph has also been heating up in the minds of these same drivers. However, only one could be the first and this time, we get to see that magic happening right in front of our eyes.

If you follow along down in the video below, you’ll be able to watch as Josh Tonski wheels the Horsepower Solutions Chevrolet Corvette to nearly an 8-second flat pass, nearly making the car’s first appearance in the 7-second range but more notably, becoming the first to crack open that 200 mph mark. It will be interesting to see where this thing goes as we have been told that Josh and company aren’t exactly finished with the car for this season just yet.
