Street Outlaws! Birdman VS Shane in The Blackbird Vega!
Street Outlaws just wrapped up its ninth season with one of the most badass episodes in the show’s history thanks to JJ Da Boss and his no-rules Armdrop Drags shootout that capped the season in spectacular fashion. NXGonzo video was on hand to capture the action on the line and brought us this great view of Shane in his Blackbird Vega lining up with one of the true legends of street and no-prep racing, Birdman and his twin turbo Trans Am.
Shane, fresh off a close win over fellow 405 gunner Reaper, was looking to keep his momentum and take out one the biggest names in the game. The pair lined up and went on the chip, and Shane, knowing he needed every possible advantage to take out the more powerful Birdman, actually jumped the start. However, with JJ calling the shots on the rules, jumps were of no consequence if the opponent also launched, so by giving chase, Birdman actually gave Shane a great shot at taking the win.
However, despite the visible hole shot for the Vega, Shane just didn’t have quite enough power on the top end to hold off Birdman, who drove around him to take the win. Birdman would then get the bye into the finals, where he was to race Big Chief for the $50,000 purse. That much-anticipated matchup failed to materialize, though, as the Trans Am broke during the burnout, handing Chief the win by default.
