Street Outlaws Kamikaze Chris vs Nitrous Firebird at Redemption 6.0
From the early days of Street Outlaws, the sinister matte black El Camino known as The Slut built a huge fan following. The car was originally driven by Flip, who was a great friend to most of the guys on the 405 Top 10 list. Unfortunately Flip passed away, and the group decided to park the ElCo in honor of their friend’s passing. A couple of seasons later, the car was dragged back into the shop and the world was introduced to Kamikaze Chris, another close friend of the 405 racers who was deemed worthy of carrying on Flip’s legacy in The Slut.
Kamikaze set out on a mission to upgrade the El Camino to make it more competitive, investing a great deal of time and money into the car over the past few seasons. As evidenced by this video, he’s done well with his upgrades. Racing at Redemption 6.0 last weekend, Kamikaze faced off with a Firebird that was lighter and on bigger tires, both factors that should have had the small tire El Camino at a disadvantage on the no-prep surface, but Chris clearly didn’t get that memo.
The cars launch together and Chris makes a blast straight down the groove, while the Firebird takes a slightly more scenic route to the finish line. While it was a great, close race, Kamikaze turned on the win light, sending many a cheer into the air for the perpetual underdog!
