Street Outlaws Takes on Bristol Motor Speedway | Mon Jan 1 9p
Street Outlaws took a week off for Christmas, but the show returns on Monday, January 1st with a whole new feel that we are really excited about. For those who have been living in a vacuum, the stars of the hottest show on Monday nights not named Monday Night Football headed to Bristol Dragway a few months ago for a special filming and, to put it very mildly, they put on a heck of a show.
If you just happened to miss the spectacle, we’ll backtrack a bit and catch you up. Just a couple of days before the filming at historic Thunder Valley Dragway in Bristol, Tennessee, Discovery Channel announced they would be filming a Street Outlaws episode at the venue. With no more advertising than a couple of Facebook posts, they managed to not only pack the stands – which hold some 20,000+ fans – but they filled the parking to capacity and had to actually turn away thousands of disappointed fans. To put that into perspective, the NHRA tour stops in Bristol annually and while they regularly pack the stands, they’ve never had to turn anybody away.
The fans were treated to some of the best racing in the show’s history, this time taking place on the drag strip instead of the street. It would later come to light that this was a lead-in to a new series that will be hitting the airwaves later in 2018, but this particular episode will be airing Monday night and we are stoked to see how things play out.
Our own Randy Pharr was on hand for the filming, so we already know how things are going to play out, but we’re not here to play spoiler! If you watched the social media world closely, you may very well know who won, but be a good sport and keep that to yourself for those who want to wait and watch the episode to find out. I will be waiting anxiously for Monday night just to see how the drama that took place is edited for television! Check it out Monday night at 9pm EST!
