Team Boddie Racing Lifting the Tires Halfway Down The Track!
This weekend is marks the thirteenth running of the Street Car Super Nationals in Las Vegas. For those who don’t know, the SCSN is one of the largest events in the western United States, pulling cars from all across the nation to the horsepower mecca that lies just northeast of the glittering oasis known as Sin City.
As part of the always-exciting Big Tire No Time shootout, legendary west coast grudge racer Jay Boddie made the haul a few hours southeast from Sacramento to throw down with some of the biggest names in the no time world. First round, he would draw a tough opponent in the stunningly beautiful twin turbo Camaro of “Turbo” Terry Barkley, a fellow California native that is certainly not to be taken lightly. Boddie, who’s never hesitates to throw every bit of horsepower his Chevy II has at the track to get the win, knew he had to plan for Barkley to lay down a solid pass, so he dialed up a wicked tune that would put on one hell of a show for the fans while also giving him the best shot at taking the win.
Both cars laid down some fresh rubber with their burnouts, then backed up and prepared to do battle. As they inched toward the staging beams, Barkley and Boddie both brought their boosted powerplants up on the chip, sending the pair of hotrods into the popping-and-banging turbo cars are known for as they staged up. The green light dropped and Barkley struck the tires, immediately ending his chances to take the round #1 win, especially considering the run Boddie was on.
With the front wheels in the air for nearly half the 1/8th mile utilized for the shootout, Jay laid down a stellar run that would advance him on to the second round of eliminations. Thanks, as always, to Hans at Free Life Films for the excellent footage from the event. Racing resumes today from The Strip and Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and you can head over to our Facebook page for the latest information about the race and where to find up-to-the-minute results.
