Teaser Of The Koenigsegg Regera Hitting The Ring Knutstorp In SWEDEN
The Koenigsegg Regera is touted as the Swedish hypercar manufacturer as the most powerful and fastest-accelerating production car in history. With cars like the Bugatti Chiron and it’s own Agera RS to compete with for that title, Koenigsegg knows that’s a huge claim to make, but the car does have the pieces of the puzzle in place to make a run at the fastest-accelerating crown.
The car, which will be built in a limited run of only 80 units, is powered by a hybrid powertrain that features an 1,100 horsepower twin turbo V8 mated to three electric motors that combine to give the car a total combined output of 1,500 horsepower. As you well know by now, the electric motors will be used at lower speeds, using their instant-hit power delivery to push the car to 100 km/h (62 MPH) in just 2.7 seconds and it has an electronically limited top speed of 255 MPH.
To put the Regera’s numbers into perspective, the Koenigsegg Agera RS just set the record for zero to 300 km/h and back to zero with an insane 17.95 second blast. While it will still have to brake amazingly well, the Regera shaves over a full second off the Agera RS’s 0-300 km/h time, clicking off the run in 10.9 seconds from a standing start.
With the car ready to roll out to customers, Koenigsegg took to the Ring Knutstorp in it’s homeland of Sweden to tease the cars arrival, and I have to say it’s an amazing sight to see. The car’s smooth, flowing profile and wide stance make it look like it’s glued to the track even when it’s easing around the track. You can see the driver kick the rear end out a couple of times to have a little fun with the car, flexing it’s muscle and letting some of those 1,500 horsepower gallop around the course.
All 80 models are already sold, so if you are hoping to get one and haven’t already made that purchase, your only hope is to either talk one of the lucky 80 out of theirs or buy one used, but I don’t see too many of these hitting Craigslist anytime soon.
