Tesla Model X P100D Ludicrous sets World Record vs Lamborghini Aventador SV Drag Racing
It seems like we see this so often lately; another Tesla laying down some amazing numbers on the drag strip. This time, not only are there two battery-powered brutes beating up on this Lamborghini, but one of them even sets an elapsed time record in the process.
First up, a Model X P100D with the Ludicrous + tune that sends almost 1,000 ft/lbs of torque to all four wheels, meaning this thing is built to be a monster in a straight line from the factory. The SUV lines up with a Lamborghini Aventador SV and when the green light drops, puts a nice sized lead on the swoopy Lambo. However, as they near the quarter mile mark, the Italian supercar builds up a head of steam and begins to reel in the Tesla, which seems to have run out out a steam a bit past the eighth mile. However, thanks to the big holeshot, the Model X got to the finish line first despite running a slower elapsed time. The 11.41 elapsed time was good for an SUV world record, though we believe there are other sports utilities out there that may have put up higher MPH through the quarter.
Up next, a Model S P100D, also with the Ludicrous + tune takes its shot at the Lambo, and with 920 ft/lbs of torque and 588 horsepower also driving all four wheels, this too is one insane ride to be available from the factory in this configuration. When the green light flashes and both cars leap off the line. The Lambo pulls out to a small lead, but the Tesla actually drives around and takes the lead briefly before the electric powertrain runs out of steam and the Aventador’s power plant takes over, pushing the SV back out front. However, the scoreboards tell the tale, as the Model S actually ran the quicker elapsed time, although the Lambo got that win line due to leaving the line first.
To say Tesla has changed the game in a big way is an understatement, and we can’t wait to see what record they break next.
